mp3fy has converted audio since 2015. The 2026 rebuild runs in your browser: your files never leave your device unless you choose the cloud, and there are no size or length limits. It is free, kept alive by donations.

What it does

You pick a file, or a whole folder, and mp3fy turns it into an MP3. It reads the formats phones, cameras, recorders and editors actually produce, keeps your tags and cover art, and lets you set the bitrate. No queue, no account, no cap on how big or how long a file can be.

How it works

Most conversions run inside your browser, using WebAssembly builds of mediabunny and LAME. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored: the work happens on your own processor, which is why a two hour file costs nothing to convert. When a format is one browsers cannot read, you can send that file to our servers instead. Those uploads are deleted right after the conversion, and the result expires within a day.

What it is not

mp3fy converts files you already have. It does not download from YouTube or any other streaming service, it does not fetch media from a link, and it does not touch copy protection. It holds no library of its own: the only thing it can convert is the file you give it.

Who runs it
